Political Relations

Bangladesh-Poland bilateral relations gained strong foundation through exchange of visits by the Foreign Ministers and Commerce Ministers of the two countries, as well as regular official level visits and interactions during the first two decades. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh visited Poland on 2-5 November 1972. The Polish Foreign Minister returned the visit in 1974. In 1979, the then Commerce Minister of Bangladesh visited Poland. In 1986 the Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Dr. Jan Majewsky visited Bangladesh. Again Foreign Minister of Bangladesh visited Poland in May, 1988. In July 1994, a delegation led by the Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh visited Poland. A delegation from the Polish Ministry of Transport visited Bangladesh in June 1997 and a MoU was signed on Air Services. On 07-09 April 2010, a high-powered Ministerial delegation led by the State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh visited Poland. Apart from that there are some trade visits which are mentioned below. In 2013, a five-member delegation from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) performed a study tour in Poland on 26-30 January 2013 to share the knowledge and experiences of Poland regarding the government servant recruitment process. This Mission arranged meeting with the Civil Service Department of Poland for the BPSC delegation. It may be noted that Poland is remarkably receptive and welcoming in receiving Bangladesh delegations be it for meetings or for trainings. In July 2014, a team from Border Guard Headquarters of Poland visited Bangladesh held meetings with the Ministries of Foreign and Home Affairs, Bangladesh Police and Director-General of Immigration and Passport.
